Is Traffic Your Store’s Biggest Problem? Here’s How to Tell!

Every day, I look at stores and point out what might be the biggest problem holding them back. For many e-commerce stores, it’s traffic!

Ask anyone what you need to sell something, and they’ll probably say, “People!” In e-commerce, this means traffic—more people visiting your store means more chances for sales. More sales = more happy you!

Want to know if your store’s traffic is good? Here’s a simple guide:

  • A good store has at least 10,000 visits per month.
  • An average store has between 2,000 and 10,000 visits per month.
  • If your traffic is below 2,000 visits, it’s time to focus more on getting people to your site than on conversions.

If you’re seeing low or average traffic, spend time every day figuring out how to improve it. Here are a few strategies to get started:

1. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

You’ve heard of SEO before. It’s about making your store easier to find on Google. This includes:

  • Keyword research
  • Link building
  • Writing helpful blogs and content related to your products

I’ll dive deeper into these in upcoming posts!

2. Content Marketing

Content is everywhere, especially on social media like Instagram, X, Facebook, and TikTok. Share helpful posts, funny memes, or videos about your product. Make sure your audience relates to what you share. The more they connect, the more likely they’ll become customers!

3. Social Media Marketing & Paid Ads

Running ads on social media can be hit or miss, but when done right, they work. If you haven’t started ads yet, focus on researching your audience’s interests. If you’re already running ads, track your:

  • ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)
  • CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost)
  • CTR (Click-Through Rate)
  • LTV (Lifetime Value of a customer)

4. Email Marketing

Emails can help bring people back to your store and increase sales. You can use emails to:

  • Retarget visitors
  • Encourage Add to Cart (ATC) actions
  • Upsell or cross-sell products
  • Confirm purchase decisions for your customers

These are just some of the most important things you need to do to make your store’s visits better than before.
